House of the People - The Palace of Parliament

The building has a surface of 330.000 square meters, entering the Guiness Book at "Administrative Buildings" chapter, being the second in the world after the Pentagon, while considering its volume, with its 2.550.000 cubic meters, the third in the world, after the building where the space ships are assembled from Cape Canaveral in Florida and after the Quetzalcoatl pyramid in Mexic.

Its sizes are: length 270 m; width 245 m; height 86m (over 0 altitude); depth 14m (below ground level); built surface on the ground 66.000 square meters.

The building has about 1.000 rooms, of which 440 offices, over 30 hall, saloons, restaurants, and service rooms.

400 architects and about 20.000 workers working in three shifts a day took part in the construction.

In order to accomplish this monumental building were used: 1.000.000 cubic meters marble; 5.500 t steel; 20.000 t sand; 1.000 t basalt; 900.000 cubic meters wood material; 3.500 t crystal; 200.000 cubic meters glass; 2.800 chandeliers; 220.000 square meters carpets; 3.500 square meters leather.

A "great" building indeed, a symbol of the past, not really embeded in the present, and not at all in the future. I don't think people look at it with pride, instead they look at it and remember what it stands for, the comunist regime.
